Two Vets and their Pups

In the fall of 2025, I read on Facebook from Amsterdam that a veteran and his dog needed a carriage. I had an extra one so I decided to donate it but the story that unfolded saddened me. The veteran was homeless and his dog was attacked by another dog. Both were ok but what the veteran needed was a carriage to put his pet in and keep him warm due to the fact that any place he stayed in had no heat. It was well into cold weather so I brought the carriage to a police officer who was handling the case. The officer explained that this dog meant everything to the veteran, and the dog usually ate before the veteran’s needs were met. The veteran remained homeless because there were no placements where both could live together. This person signed up to give his life for his country, yet could not find a place where his most cherished companion and he could live their days together in peace and comfort.
Earlier this year, another veteran got behind in the care of his companion dog. My veterinarian called to see if Gracie Bella’s Hope could help. The dog needed some medical care, so we decided to help this person out. It was a small donation.
Let us honor the service our veterans gave to our country and help them keep their companion pets when they need them most.
